Old Town of Murten

How about exploring the old town of Murten, combined with a captivating riddle or a treasure hunt? In this way, young and old can uncover the secrets of this medieval town, which are often well hidden. During the mysterious walk of the Secret Murten Lumière Circuit, you can discover six hidden places in the heart of the old town of Murten, for which only you have the key.

Walk through the city
Pass through the famous Berne Gate and wander through the many narrow streets and under the arcades of the old town, with its charming baroque houses lined up like pearls on a necklace. From the many viewpoints and terraces, you can enjoy a magnificent view of Lake Murten, the wine region at the foot of Mont Vully, and even the Jura with its gently rolling hills on the horizon. The pretty silhouette of the old town is most impressive from the lakeside promenade. Various cruises invite you to a guided tour of Lake Murten from the deck of the boat… Relax and let your mind wander!

Shopping and gastronomy
Under the arcades of the old town, you can stroll sheltered from the weather. Many terraces are ideal for a short break, while the windows of the small boutiques and shops invite you to a most pleasant stroll through the city.

Mount Vully

The Lamberta caves, above Môtier, were developed between
1916 and 1917 to defend the Swiss Plateau
were dug into the sandstone during the First World War.
The result was an impressive 200-metre-long gallery.
Today, the caves are a heavenly playground for children:
Explorers, young and old, explore every corner of this
oversized sandcastle or play for hours.

Access to the lake

A beautiful meadow by the lake to enjoy. A walk
offers the possibility of a walk. There are
beach volleyball courts and playgrounds. Swimming is allowed :-)
A large parking lot directly on site.

Camping Muntelier

Restaurant and accommodation

Camping Muntelier is both a place to stay for adventure lovers and an excellent inn for all visitors. A small menu offers delicious dishes directly on the lake. In winter, fondue is served in a gondola, accompanied by a bath in a whirlpool with an aperitif. Closed in case of bad weather.
