Wil

The OLM of Wil offers you the following advice to discover the must-see places or activities in its region.

Old Town of Wil

Stroll through the beautiful old town

The old town invites you to stroll and the Hof zu Wil was the residence of the prince abbots of St. Gallen for decades. Until the dissolution of the princely abbey in 1805, Wil remained, with a small interruption, their undisputed property. The historical region between Rorschach and Wil was first mentioned in a document in 1580 under the name "Alte Landschaft". The term "Fürstenland", however, was only used from the 18th century onwards and must be attributed to the prince abbots. At that time, it was still part of the canton of Säntis. In 1803, it was incorporated into the new canton of St. Gallen.

    Enjoy the view

Since 2006, Wil has had an additional attraction and, as it were, a new landmark: a 38-metre-high wooden tower with a double spiral staircase on the Hofberg.

    Lion Station, Wil

Wil's cultural venue for concerts and parties

Culture has been experienced at the Lion Station since 1989 (until 2008 Remise). Concert, theatre, reading, discussion or party - we offer a varied programme for every taste. The operator of the Lion Station is the Kulturzentrum Wil association; the service agreements with the city of Wil and the canton of St. Gallen form the basis of the cultural programme.

    Stadtweier Wil & Openair Rockamweier

The leisure area in the heart of Wil. Festival included.

The Wil city park invites you to stroll or rest on one of the many benches. The playground for the little ones makes their hearts beat faster, as do the many ducks and swans as well as the lively pygmy goats.

In addition, the largest free open air in Switzerland takes place there every year in mid-June: the Rockamweier open air.
